Description Tomasz Chmielewski 2006-02-27 16:02:06 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
OS: Linux

It would be nice if there was a possibility to drag and drop reorder konsole tabs (like the feature introduced in Firefox 1.5).

Comment 2 Aziz K. 2006-02-27 20:02:34 UTC
Hello!

It's quite obvious that this assignment is not very intuitive. I've been using Kubuntu Linux for 5 to 6 Months, and up until now I couldn't figure out how to be able to reorder tabs, which are widely used in so many applications!

Why is this function (only) assigned to the middle mouse button? What's wrong with just using the left mouse button?

Please, for the sake of usability and for the sake of the new KDE users/OS migrators, consider changing the behaviour of the tabs in KDE. The least thing that can be done in this case is to make it possible to reorder tabs with both the middle and left mouse button.

Regards,
Aziz

I agree that the middle button is rather unintuitive for such a task.

I would also expect a right click -> move tab (like it's done with the icons on the panel); I also looked for that before reporting the issue.

Looks like this is on KMdi, since Konversation has the same behaviour.

The UI for this is not intuitive and does not provide helpful feedback as to what the user is doing.

This is actually a kdelibs issue, but worth confirming here.

I suggest something along the lines of FireFox-style drag-and-drop tab reordering because that feels carefully thought out.

It would also be nice to be able to drag a tab window from one konsole to another one.
