Description Karol Krizka 2006-02-26 17:46:50 UTC
Version: 3.5.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc-4.0.2 x86_64
OS: Linux

I have experienced this problem several times before with 3.5.0 and 3.5.1. What happens is that sometimes when I try to type in an URL, the autocomplete thing shows underneath the bar with no choices. Then the whole system freezes. I can still more my mouse but if I click on anything, there is no response. I can't switch desktops or select other windows. But I can Ctrl+Alt+F1 into a console and login as the user and type "killall konqueror". Then when I return back to X, the problem is fixed.

One thing that I noticed is that it happens mostly when the kwallet dialog pops up at the same time as I am typing the URL.

The drop-down completion grabs the mouse. The KWallet password dialog, when shown, blocks Konqueror. But if the mouse is grabbed, there's no way to click on the password box to type the password and unblock Konqueror.

At least, this is what the description looks like to be.

George, have you seen this?

Yes, known issue. KDE4: KWallet goes outside of KDE.
