Description Jan Minar 2006-02-01 16:12:23 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

When k3b is set to verify the written disk (DVD-R in this case), it ejects and
reloads it before it attempts the verification. When the disk is loaded, the
[0]"A new medium has been detected. What do you want to do?" dialog appears.
This is what IIRC Windows do on these occasions when it's clear one has already
decided and specified what to do. Patently annoying.

FWIW, I've also reported this as [1]Gentoo bug #121102 (closed as RESOLVED UPSTREAM).

Comment 1 Stephan Kulow 2006-02-01 16:22:12 UTC
this is fixed in newer k3b versions - it will unload the mediamanger
Comment 2 Thiago Macieira 2006-02-03 18:28:05 UTC
Can't mediamanager provide a way to stop polling and restart later?

If mediamanager unloads, the icons on the desktop and the kicker media bar disappear and don't come back unless both applications (kdesktop and kicker) are restarted.
Comment 3 Kevin Ottens 2006-02-03 18:42:12 UTC
Currently it can't, and we have no clean way to do it for 3.5
For KDE 4 the upcoming API already provide the necessary methods to cover this need though.
