Description Dylan Taft 2006-01-07 07:50:20 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.4
OS: Linux

Configure your KDE kicker taskbar

Show windows frol All Desktops
Show application icons

Group similar tasks: ALWAYS
Appearance: Classic

The group similar tasks seems to be the trigger. If it's disabled, it's fine. If not, no KDE apps will show in the kicker.

Example. Add a run applet to your taskbar.

type "kwrite" in, or "konqueror" and so on.
Start it up. The app will start, but it will vanish from the taskbar after starting, however, non KDE apps are fine. xterms stick, as does glxgears, nvidia-settings, gaim, and so on.

This only happens with group similar tasks: always.

I'm running KDE 3.5, QT 3.3.4
It's been unable to be confirmed on a KDE 3.5 QT 3.3.3 system. Hrm.

Also, running a KDE app from an xterm, or "Run Command" in the KMenu is fine. It appears in the taskbar.

Confirmed in KDE 3.5.0, QT 3.3.3. Same behaviour as above.

Fixed in KDE 3.5.1
