when kscd is running in system tray, it constantly polls CD-ROM drive. I am running HAL which already provides polling and notification services; further I use media applet to trigger device-specific action on notification from HAL. It would be nice to be able to turn kscd polling off - there is no need for yet another application competing for the same device.

I understand that media insert event may be beneficial to prefetch CDDB information, in which case kscd should provide option to hook to HAL (like media manager does now) to get this event.

kscd is no longer maintained, please switch to an alternative application.
