Version: (using KDE Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources If my internet connection goes down, i dont see that in kopete. My router is not very good, and sometimes he reconnects. When im just chating while he does so, i cant see that i went offline, and only 5 minutes later i see kopete reconnecting. This is a big problem, gaim is able to see the disconnections way faster. I hope someone can fix this.
which protocols? not all protocols provide enough support for knowing that they've been disconnected.
I have this problem with icq msn and jabber. jabber im not sure because i only use it since a few days and have not been watching if it behaves the same way as the other 2 protocols do
Maybe the KDE4's Solid connection manager will help for that. Actually, we are just waiting the connection times out.
how does your connection work? (DSL through a router, dial-up, etc)
For me ICQ and MSN detect it instantly when I get disconnected (every 24 hours) but Jabber and Yahoo take a very very long time until they timeout.
Here, ICQ and kdetalk.net take some (>10, IIRC) minutes. jabber.ccc.de detects a disconnect nearly instantly.
This is something we can hardly solve. And need to be solved for each protocols.
