Description apachedude86 2006-01-03 09:08:28 UTC
Version: 2.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

KHotKeys 3.5.0-15 simply does not work.

> khotkeys
ERROR: Communication problem with khotkeys, it probably crashed.
Comment 1 Lubos Lunak 2006-01-03 15:53:20 UTC
The message is bogus and harmless. Check that you have kdebase3-khotkeys package installed, SUSE supplementary packages for KDE3.5.0 had incorrect dependencies.
Comment 2 apachedude86 2006-01-06 09:57:59 UTC
I have tried the kdebase3-khotkeys packages (SuSE RPMs) from both suse.org and kde.org with no luck. Is there anything I can do to diagnose this problem?
Comment 3 Lubos Lunak 2006-01-10 18:18:25 UTC
rpm -qa |grep kdebase
ls /opt/kde3/bin | grep khotkeys
ls /opt/kde3/lib | grep khotkeys
ls /opt/kde3/lib/kde3 | grep khotkeys
cat ~/.kde/share/config/khotkeysrc (only section [Main])
dcop kded kded loadedModules
Check that you actually really have configured a khotkeys action and it works after you explicitly do "dcop kded kded loadModule khotkeys".
Comment 4 apachedude86 2006-01-11 02:15:53 UTC
Fixed. I reinstalled the rpms, via FTP this time, in YaST.

Either my original download got corrupted or the earlier rpms were corrupted. (I downloaded to hard disk and set up YaST on a local directory.)
