Description jos poortvliet 2006-01-02 14:55:02 UTC
Version: 0.5 (using KDE 3.5.0, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.4 (Gentoo 3.4.4-r1, ssp-3.4.4-1.0, pie-8.7.8)
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.15-rc6-ck1

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94851 seems to come back after fullscreen use... i have Kwin set to use alt-enter for fullscreen for all apps. if i start kpdf, maximized, then alt-enter - it goes full-screen. the toolbar disappears (nice feature, but i hate it, and i'll send in a wish to make it at least configurable, or let it remember the fact i put it BACK every time i use fullscreen). then alt-enter again - and do we have a maximized Kpdf? no, its very small, at the topleft of the screen.

i'm not sure if this is a kwin bug or kpdf, but as kpdf is the only app that behaves this strange after being fullscreen, i suspect its kpdf's fault.

btw - love Kpdf, except for small the annoyances i'm filing bugs for, nwo :D

works here without any problem

NOW what! Albert again... ;-)

damn, this really happens EVERY TIME. ONLY with kpdf.

aaah got it. it doesn't happen with ctrl-shift-F. but i have set in the systemwide hotkeys to use alt-ENTER for fullscreen.

it doesn't work here.

most apps behave nice: they see, like kpdf does, kwin sets them to fullscreen - and react accordingly. kmplayer, i see, doesn't undertstand it (keeps its non-fullscreen setup). kpdf sees he goes fullscreen, but makes one small mistake - it doesn't seem to remember its previous state. this might be kwin's fault, by the way, i don't know...

i hope my denlish is understandable :D

You mean using ctrl-shift-F works but using your own defined alt-entern does not????
Comment 4 jos poortvliet 2006-01-02 20:21:35 UTC

No, and I think Jos' answer is wrong :-)

Using kpdf fullscreen works ok but using system fullscreen (*) doesn't work ok -- the window is not restored properly.

With kpdf fullscreen you can just switch it on and switch it off (back). With system full screen it looks like switching on but then (when getting back) switch-off plus un-maximize (restore). And thus the window gets very small.

(*) titlebar, RMB, advanced, fullscreen.

the self-defined alt-enter IS the system fullscreen, Maciej, so we're talking about the same thing. but you made the point much clearer, thanx.

this also happens in okular, btw, http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137108

Actually, I can reproduce:
- open kpdf, select fullscreen from your window manager
- close kpdf (Ctrl+Q)
- reopen kpdf, it get fullscreen as it was when closing
- un-maximise (always from the window manager), and get a tiny kpdf window

Though, what I have no idea is:
a) kdelibs-only bug
b) kdelibs + somehow "bad" kpdf behaviour
c) "bad" kpdf behaviour
