Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0) Installed from: I Don't Know OS: Linux printer (brother MFC-5440CN) printing documents from pc files as well as web pages without problems. However, no more able to print jpg files downloaded from web. Printing directly from web works but not after downloaded. download print possibility suddenly stopped, no changes whatever were made in configurations. also downloaded documents can be printed, only jpg files are involved.
This report is extremely vague. After you download your image, what is the program you open it with? What do you do in that program in order to print? When did "printing stop", after installation of new distribution? After upgrade of KDE? What distribution is this? Thanks.

Many thanks for this prompt reply which I really didn't expect. My knowledge about pc programmes is very limited, and this was also a trial for me what kde is offering and whether I will 'find my way' through kde before asking my friends which know a little bit more than I. I download image to one of my personal folders, open it simply with mouseclick and print it via menu file/file print (then, before printing, I get a printing manager where I can change size of print ect.) printing does not 'stop', but I get (un)printed pages without any on them, only a small line on top of the pages (seems that printer did not receive the date whereas all other printings, as I said, are o.k. This happened 'from yesterday to today', and there were no changes at all in programmes, configurations, and no new installings. Let's say, yesterday it worked, overnight anything happened. I doubt that you can help me, maybe I downloaded a virus? Otherwise, no other parts of 'pc work' seem to be disturbed or influenced. Sorry, I have to correct: it was not 'overnight', it happened from one print (which was ok) to another one where I got an empty page. In addition,it's also not working any more with jpg (and jpeg) files which I had saved to floppy disc (saved a long time ago and already printed, but now the same image not printable). hope this gives you a better background. One more (may be valuable) information: Printing of jpg images directly from web (without downloading)makes no problem, but the same image downloaded ist not printable.
As Cristian stated, it's important to know which program is used to actually view and print the image. When printing from the web, you are actually using the web browser to print, which is most probably konqueror. When you download an image and click on it from the file manager, probably another application is started to view the image. For the user, it's transparent, but technically, they are 2 different applications: one can generate correct print data, while the other may not. This is why you can get different results when printing from the web or printing a downloaded/local image. To identify which application is used, I suggest that you look into the "Help" menu when the image is viewed, look for "About..." entries. What you can also try is to browse your presonal folder and right-click on the image file: the appearing menu should tell you which application it can use to view the image. Michael.
Thanks a lot for your comment. As I understand, I open image with konqueror, also my printing manager is showing in headline 'Printing - konqueror'. In print manager - under button 'adjustment of photo' (I got the German version, so I'm not sure whether the denomination is correct) there are two options: 1) adjust photo to size of paper (to this I changed and that is working) 2) enlarge photo to ...x... cm / inch (and this worked for a long time but is now working no more) Anyhow, now I'm printing with option no. 1), so that the problem is solved (half), but normally both options should be working. What I do not understand: Why could I enlarge prints up to my requests, and from one print to the next, suddenly, it's being printed, but with empty pages? If you have any idea, you may comment it, if you do not want to waste your time with such 'peanuts', it would be o.k. as well. Again many thanks Manfred P.S. From this latest description, I have to _guess_ that you found a possible bug in gwenview, a KDE image viewing application that can be configured to automatically display images in konqueror. I therefore move this bug to this application. Please, be advised that the above reports aren't yet fully usable because of confuse details and lack of a precise step by step way for reproducing the wrong behavior. Thanks for your help.
hmm, I'm confused Comment #7 seems to say it's gwenview, but i printed yesterday and it worked. Moreover that option has not been touched for ages :) Anyway can the reporter give some more fedback about the options used? Even a screenshot is welcome. Can the reporter check if he's printing with 1cm X 1cm If he check to keep ratio he should see about 15x10 cm from there he can change as he likes. Moreover if the problem is gwenview can the reporter open first gwenview and browse files to open the image from there and trying to print then?
no feed backs since about a year, I can print here without a similar problem. Please check if still valid (gwenview 1.4.1 seems not to be affected) and eventually re open it.
