Description Doruk Fisek 2005-12-12 21:40:15 UTC
Version: 0.8.0 (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: Slackware Packages
Compiler: gcc 3.4.4 -march=pentium-m -O2
OS: Linux

I am using the hotplug scripts provided in http://digikam.free.fr/hotplug/usbcam.tar.gz with KDE 3.4.2. The script parses the ps -ef output to determine the kde user plugging in the camera.

Unfortunately grepping kdeinit..kdesktop did not work for me. When I modified the script to grep kwin insted, it worked flawlessly.

Hi,

i know about the bug and i have a fix for it already at home working. They seem to have the KDE process a bit changed with KDE 3.4. Because i'm very busy at the moment, i will release a new version of this scripts next week.

Sorry for anybody who have moe work because of this bug.

Sorry I can't test it anymore.

I switched distributions (Slackware -> Pardus) since then and I'm not using the scripts anymore, the distribution package works fine for me.

Yes

i think we should close this. My old hotplugging script are no longer useful. HAL is doing a much better job
