i tried adding my digikamrc to another user and found the same problem occurred. So it looks like something in that file made things go bad. I have never edited the file or anything strange. It is below.

Try removing the aspect ratio settings from the config... Unless there is a relyable way to reproduce and you are the only one reporting there is not much we can do...
