Version: 0.12.2 (using KDE KDE 3.4.3) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux When I click 'Settings' -> 'K3b Setup' an empty window shows up only consisting of the buttons Help, Defaults, OK, Apply, Cancel. This happens regardless if I'm logged in as root, normal user or if I call k3bsetup from the console.
Same problem here for the "setup assistant" which is automatically run on startup. Using KDE 3.5.1, Debian/unstable.
I would like to fix this, but I have no idea how since I cannot reproduce the bug...
Did you try to reproduce on a Debian/Ubuntu box? If there's any other info we can provide please let us know. A screenshot of the empty dialog wouldn't help, I guess :-)
ok, I tested it on kubuntu and I can say: this is the (k)ubuntu guys' fault. They use a heaviliy patched KDE control center. So it's up to them to also patch K3bSetup to make it work.
well, I also get the bug on Debian. Do you know if they patch Debian in a similar way? Or is the Kubuntu patch "inherited" from Debian?
that I don't know. and testing debian is not as simple as kubuntu. But you can check that for yourself. If the kontrol center is arranged in horizontal lines of icons instead of a vertical bar on the left and the settings on the right, then it is patched.
no, Debian KControl has the icons on the left and settings on the right. So it's not patched!? So a "patch problem" can not be the reason for the blank settings window in K3B since I have the bug here with an unpatched version, too?
Don't know. I never heard of this bug appearing on a non-debian system. Maybe it is best to ask the debian kdelibs/kdebase maintainer...
Sebastian: You're mixing kcontrol with systemsettings, which is a different program using kcontrol modules, and this has nothing to do with this bug anyway. This bug seems Debian-specific and it seems Ubuntu just inherit the Debian bug.
thanks for the hint.
I built k3b from the original in Ubuntu and installed it. It fails the same way, so it's not a problem with the Debian package itself at least.
s/original/original tarball/ in my previous comment ;)
Olivier : I can confirm the bug is in Debian sid too and there is no patch in the k3b package in Debian sid. This is not a problem with the package itself. May be a missing dependency or a conflict...
This bug has been reported in Ubuntu ( https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/k3b/+bug/23007 ) and in Debian (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=353826)
I provided a fix in Ubuntu Dapper and filed the patch to Debian. I removed the old patch applying "NoDisplay=true" to the k3bsetup2.desktop and replaced it with the following : --- k3b-0.12.14/k3bsetup/k3bsetup2.desktop 2006-03-07 15:48:24.000000000 +0100 +++ k3b-0.12.14.new/k3bsetup/k3bsetup2.desktop 2006-03-16 15:43:46.000000000 +0100 @@ -60,7 +60,7 @@ X-KDE-Library=k3bsetup2 X-KDE-ModuleType=Library X-KDE-RootOnly=true -Categories=Application;System;X-KDE-System; +Categories=Qt;KDE;X-KDE-settings-system; GenericName=CD & DVD Burning Setup GenericName[af]=CD & DVD Skryf Opstelling GenericName[bg]=Настройка на записа на CD и DVD It should thus be fixed now.
this is thus not a k3b bug. closing...
