Description Axel Roebel 2005-12-01 17:58:21 UTC
Version:           3.5 beta1 (using KDE 3.4.92 (beta2, >= 20051010), compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 20030502 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-52)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.9-22.0.1.EL

Hi

I share a common kalender.ics file between different versions
of korganizer, here 3.5 beta1 and 3.4.2. appointments i enter in one korganizer version will show one hour off in the other version. the version 3.4.2 shows the time in the file, version 3.5 shows the time +1hour.
for example the entry

SUMMARY:test
CLASS:PUBLIC
PRIORITY:5
DTSTART:20051207T110000Z
DTEND:20051207T130000Z
TRANSP:OPAQUE
END:VEVENT

would in 3.5.1 have start time 12 and end time 14.
is this meant to be a new localization feature
storing the time in gmt time?
Or a bug?

regards

axel

The file has times in UTC (note the Z at the end).

What timezone are you on?
Comment 2 Axel Roebel 2005-12-01 19:26:52 UTC
I am in CET (GMT+1)!

Does this mean that korganizer in kde 3.4.2
has the problem because it simply ignores the time zone info?
Note that all the entries in the file have a Z at the end which means korganizer stored them like that since I started using it
2 or 3 years ago and now with 3.5 the interpretation of these
entries did change - probably for the better. However, in the transition
I no longer know how to interpret the different entries because
I don't know anymore whith what version I entered the times.

Regards

Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created
korganizer-devel mailing list.

Seems like you did not have a timezone set in KOrganizer in 3.4, so in 3.5 Korganizer introduced a default timezone = to the system timezone, and interpreted your calendar as UTC, when it was in fact in localtime. Remedy, incase you have the same problem still:

Remove/disable this calendar
Set your korganizer timezone to (No selection).
Reenable the calendar.
Set the Korganizer timezone back to CET.
Korganizer will prompt you if you want to keep the times as is or change them, select change. It will write the times back to the file in UTC, not localtime.

Won't fix this as this is an ancient bugreport and the system is being revised for KDE 4.
