Description John Dansted 2005-11-29 00:50:56 UTC
Version: 0.11 (cvs) (using KDE KDE 3.4.3)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
Compiler: gcc-4.0
OS: Linux

When KDE starts up, Kopete pops up a message to say "You have 4 unread messages in your MSN inbox". I am usually not interested in the messages, however the modal dialog ends up being placed under dozens of other windows generated during KDE start up.

Due to bug #72911, modal dialog boxes cause taskbar icons to freeze up, as I cannot see the modal dialog, it gives the impression that Kopete has crashed. Even though I know Kopete hasn't crashed, it takes me a while to find the modal dialog under the other windows.

Apparently it is impossible to fix #72911, but perhaps we could work around it by using non-modal dialog boxes for notifications in Kopete?

I can use Kopete from KDE-3.5.9 regularly when the described popup message appears (messaging with contacts, etc). So I guess that this wishlist item is already implemented by now?

Closing this bug as the MSN protocol will be dropped.
It is replaced by the WLM protocol.

If this bug is still valid please open it against the WLM protocol
