Version:           1.8.2 (using KDE 3.4.2, Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker)
Compiler:          Target: i586-mandriva-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-12mdksmp

In KAddressBook I have some contacts
saved in the file /home/iron/.kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf

I see the path of that file when I push the button "Modifica"
("Edit" in english) on the selected row with a checkbox, named "resource-name"

When I execute KMail (1.8.2), I do this steps:

1) I push the button "Nuovo messaggio"  ("New message" in english)
2) a new window appears, where I can write my message
3) I push the button "Seleziona..." ("Select..." in english)
4) a new window appears with a combo box where I can select
   - All, Recent address, Distribution list, Selected, resource-name
5) If I choose resource-name I see no contacts !

Sorry, I can not reproduce this.
Are you sure the contacts in your address books have e-mail addresses assigned to them? Otherwise they won't show up.

Now with kmail 1.9.9 + kde 3.5.9 (Mandriva 2008.1)
and *the same* std.vcf I can see all contacts !

Probably with this more recent version of kmail the bug was solved.
