Version: 0.11 (using KDE KDE 3.5.0) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Compiler: gcc 4.0.2 OS: Linux Sending a file to an msn contact by right-clicking in the contact list (without actually opening a chat window to this user), no notification of a pending file transfer is sent to the recipient. Sending files only works after a chat window has been opened and a connection with the contact is established.
The same happens to me (KDE 3.5 SuSE 10.0)
I can confirm this bug in svn 0.12 branch. If you try to send the file 2x the file transfer dialog will appear. It looks like the chat session gets set up in the first attempt, if one doesn't exist, but then the file transfer doesn't occur. The second transfer attempt benefits from the first attempt setting up the session behind the scenes. Working on it ...
sometimes I have problems transfering files. especialy .jpg and .bmp. the file arrives broken. It does not open. i don't know if it's a kopete problem or some other thing with my computer. =\
Re: Comment #3 That's a different bug and one that's already been fixed. The problem with requiring a chat window to be open when sending files is not fixed yet.

I can't reproduce this bug using Kopete 0.50.80 (KDE 4.0.85 (KDE 4.1 >= 20080703))
We've completely replaced the current MSN implementation with a new MSN implementation which If you continue to experience this bug after testing the new implementation (which can be gotten from our subversion repository or with the KDE 4.2 Beta 1 release), PLEASE, open a new bug rather than reopening this bug. Thank you for your time and efforting in helping us find and fix problems in Kopete.
