Version: 3.4.92 (using KDE 3.5 (RC1) Level "a" , SUSE 10.0 UNSUPPORTED) Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15-default All of my panels are set to autohide but only one of them misbehaves. It's a small panel (25% of the left side of the screen) and what makes it "ill" is a bookmarks menu with nested sub-menus. The bookmarks menu works fine and disappears when I click on it but then the panel remains stuck on screen *from time to time*. I have to make the mouse cursor enter and leave it several times or click in it in order that it reacts. If I browse my bookmarks a second time, it will react as expected and so on several times until it suddenly forgets to disappear. This happens apparently only with the bookmarks menu. There are also 2 quick navigators and a link in the panel but none of the them have triggered its misbehavior --so far. There is no animation nor delay set for my panels to disappear. I don't understand how one can stay on screen until I kick it several times with the mouse cursor.
please attach your configuration files for kicker. otherwise there is a near zero chance of me being able to duplicate this (or rather, even trying to)
Here come my kickerrc...

Just for the record, my main kicker panel (bottom) also remained stuck yesterday... just once. I was over the taskbar (Taskbar 2) checking the behavior of the style I'm working on and when the mouse cursor left the panel, it didn't disappear.
Also happens sometimes here on kde 3.5.2 on my main kicker panel. In fact, it has been happening for quite some time (atleast since 3.3.2 on x86). os - gentoo arch - x86_64 compiler - gcc 3.4.6 cflags - -Os -march=k8 -pipe

I am having a problem similar to this. I have just recently upgraded to the Mandriva 2007, by which I mean a complete re-install, not actually an upgrade. uname -a shows this: "Linux capone 2.6.17-5mdv #1 SMP Wed Sep 13 14:28:02 EDT 2006 x86_64 Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.20GHz GNU/Linux", and KDE version 3.5.4. KDE control center says: "Release: 2.6.17-5mdv", Machine: x86_64". Before everything was great, no problems. Now even though I have the kicker set to "autohide", it doesn't really want to very often-- meaning that it does occasionally work, so I can't say its completely broken. But it is definitely "very lazy" ! :) What I have found though is if I wave the cursor down in the lower-left corner region, near the top of the kicker-panel when its displayed, I can usually find a spot that will make it go away. Somehow this seems like it is probably a clue to the actual underlying problem...?? The problem is annoying, and I'd love to have it fixed, but it is certainly not a show-stopper. If anybody knows what the problem is, I'm all ears, I'd love a fix! :) Here's my kickerrc file: [$Version] update_info=kickerrc.upd:kde_3_1_sizeChanges,kickerrc.upd:kde_3_4_reverseLayout,translatemenu.upd:translatemenu-2 [AddAppletDialog Settings] Height 1024=995 Width 1280=655 [Applet_1] ConfigFile=clock_panelapplet_z8kmza1xgouefsoscek0_rc DesktopFile=clockapplet.desktop FreeSpace2=1 WidthForHeightHint=77 [Applet_2] ConfigFile=taskbar_panelappletrc DesktopFile=taskbarapplet.desktop FreeSpace=0 FreeSpace2=0.0012987 WidthForHeightHint=210 [Applet_3] ConfigFile=systemtray_panelappletrc DesktopFile=systemtrayapplet.desktop FreeSpace2=1 WidthForHeightHint=36 [Applet_5] ConfigFile=media_panelapplet_wx5q1mpyggxmcjxufunz_rc DesktopFile=mediaapplet.desktop FreeSpace2=0.0012987 WidthForHeightHint=10 [DesktopButton_1] FreeSpace2=0 [General] Alignment=1 Applets=KMenuButton_1,Applet_2 Applets2=KMenuButton_1,DesktopButton_1,ServiceButton_1,ServiceButton_2,Applet_5,Applet_2,Applet_3,Applet_1 AutoHideDelay=0 AutoHidePanel=true AutoHideSwitch=false BackgroundHide=false BackgroundTheme=/usr/share/apps/kicker/wallpapers/default.png ColorizeBackground=true CustomSize=58 ExpandSize=false FadeOutAppletHandles=true HideAnimation=false HideAnimationSpeed=100 HideAppletHandles=false HideButtonSize=14 IExist=true MenubarPanelTransparent=true Position=3 ShowLeftHideButton=false ShowRightHideButton=false ShowToolTips=true Size=2 SizePercentage=100 TintColor=198,198,191 TintValue=47 UnhideLocation=5 UntrustedApplets=menuapplet.desktop UntrustedExtensions= UseBackgroundTheme=false XineramaScreen=0 [KMenu] UseSidePixmap=false [KMenuButton_1] FreeSpace=0 FreeSpace2=0 [Menubar Panel] ConfigFile=kicker_menubarpanelrc DesktopFile=childpanelextension.desktop UserHidden=0 [ServiceButton_1] DesktopFile=/var/lib/menu-xdg/applications/Mandrakelinux/System/Terminals/konsole.desktop FreeSpace2=0.0012987 StorageId=mandriva-mozilla-firefox.desktop [ServiceButton_2] DesktopFile=/var/lib/menu-xdg/applications/Mandrakelinux/Internet/WebBrowsers/Mozilla Firefox.desktop FreeSpace2=0.0012987 StorageId=kde-konsole.desktop [ServiceButton_3] DesktopFile=/var/lib/menu-xdg/applications/Mandrakelinux/System/Archiving/CDBurning/k3b.desktop FreeSpace2=0 StorageId=Mandrakelinux-System-Archiving-CDBurning-k3b.desktop [button_tiles] EnableBrowserTiles=false EnableDesktopButtonTiles=false EnableKMenuTiles=false EnableURLTiles=false EnableWindowListTiles=false [buttons] EnableIconZoom=true EnableTileBackground=false [menus] Extensions= NumVisibleEntries=10 RecentAppsStat=6 1170682781 /usr/share/applications/kde/KControl.desktop,2 1170680516 /usr/share/applications/mandriva-drakconf.desktop,2 1170171882 /usr/share/applications/mandriva-rpmdrake-root.desktop,1 1170342789 /usr/share/applications/writer2.0.desktop,1 1170166974 /usr/share/applications/mandriva-rpmdrake.desktop,1 1170682569 /usr/share/applications/kde/keyboard.desktop UseBrowser=true
