Looks to be a general problem since I have the same problem with kopetes ogg sounds.

interesting that it does not affect knotifications in the same way
hmm spoke too soon
KDE_bottles.ogg has the same problem there

dont know if its a corrupt ogg in the latest version of kde or a ogg player fault , but the default ogg files that i use with kde for notifications work fine

dont use kopete so not tried that

btw , kde3.4.3 was fine
had the same problem with kde3.5beta 2 ,
reverted back to kde3.4.3 dew to a number of bugs
and since i updated again to kde3.5rc1 the same problem is back

so if not a player fault then the ogg file is corrupt in the distribution
rpms , know it affects KDE_bottles.ogg , think it affects some more .ogg
files but not them all

Looks to be only short ogg files that are affected, or at least the end of the ogg file, that is the end is not played correctly. It's more notable on the short files cause some of the longer files fade out like login.

arts with akode is installed on my system, which is kubuntu with 3.5rc1

I have no problem playing KDE_Bottles.ogg

Are you still experiencing problems?
Comment 7 david powell 2006-11-04 22:11:17 UTC
well you could say that
using kde 3.5.1 now
i stoped using k alarm as it now only plays the wave file once then stops just leaving the red popup on the screen

i used to set it to repeate the ogg untill i stoped it
usualy because i may be out of ear shot for a min or two

now as it only plays the ogg once i tend to miss it so end up using the other machine that has kde3.4 installed and will repeate the ogg untill stoped

do i have to file a feature request to get that feature reimplimented
or is it now hidden in a hidden option box somewhere

I don't have that problem with kalarm.

Can you try and run artsd in a console and post the output here?

Open Konsole
Type: killall artsd
Type: artsd -l0
Reproduce sound bug
Post debug output here

This bug is related to artsd which is no more supported. This bug is closed as "unmantained" for this reason.
