Description Tony A 2005-11-16 09:16:11 UTC
Version: 3.5 (using KDE 3.5 (RC1), Kubuntu Package 4:3.5-rc1-0ubuntu0breezy1 )
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-9-386

Konq 3.5 doesn't show any metainfo (i.e. mp3 tags) in the Properties dialog of my mp3 files.

This worked fine in 3.4.3 and earlier.

You need the kdeaddons package to see meta information, it looks like that is not provided yet for kubuntu... Maybe you should ask the packagers why this is the fact?
Comment 2 Scott Wheeler 2005-11-17 17:21:15 UTC
I'm not sure if that's a Debian-ish specific thing, but in the source distribution the KFileMetaInfo plugin for mp3s is in kde-multimedia. That said, similar problems have always been either not having the plugin installed or a broken installation (mime-types being messed up and so on).
Comment 3 Tony A 2005-11-19 23:10:52 UTC
I've installed kdeaddons, kdemultimedia and everything else from Ubuntu 3.5-RC1 packages. Still I don't see any meta info in properties of mp3 files. I'm out of ideas :-(

Can you make sure that $KDEDIR/lib/kde3/kfile_mp3.so exists? (in my case /opt/kde3/lib/kde3/kfile_mp3.so)
Comment 5 Tony A 2005-11-22 19:57:54 UTC
I have the file kfile_mp3.so in /usr/lib/kde3. I don't have $KDEDIR in my environment. Ubuntu/Kubuntu doesn't seem to set it.

Works in 3.5
