Description Martin Steigerwald 2005-11-03 16:24:23 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

Hello, I am trying to use KAddressBook from KDE 3.4.2 on Debian Etch/Sid with OpenGroupware.org 1.1 on Debian Sarge.

I add a KAddressBook GroupDAV resource for OpenGroupware.org as described in

http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/chris/groupdav/kaddressbook/view

When updating the folder list I get several choise for Contacts such as:

Accounts
Contacts
Contacts
Enterprises
Enterprises
Groups

First off, I do not know whether there are two identically named folders available.

Then the GUI isn't easy to understand at all. What are the checkmarks for and what are the mutually exclusive (at least I interpret them as mutually exclusive, and in the GUI they work that way, when I select one all other get deselected) radio buttons for? As I interpret it, the checkmarks specify which folder KOrganizer should read, and the radio buttons specify which ones if should write to.

But even when trying it this way it does not work as expected. Just some examples:

- when I select all checkmarks, pressing "OK", and re-open the resource configuration window all checkmarks are unchecked

- when I select the radio button at second "Calendar" and re-open the window it is selected, but "Accounts" and second "Enterprises" as well as "Groups" is also selected

- when I try this with another entry various other entries are selected, there might be a pattern in that but I did not invest the time to find it out ;-)

Generally spoken, that window rarely did what I expected it too. This may well be a lack of documentation, but I suspect there are at least some bugs and some usability issues.

I configured a GroupDAV resource as described in

http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/chris/groupdav/korganizer/view

as follows

Name: groupdav Resource
Address: http://opengroupware.of.teamix.net/zidestore/dav/ms
User: ms
Some password ;)

using varying folders. ;-)

I am using the following OpenGroupware.org stuff on the server:

Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created
korganizer-devel mailing list.

Yes, i second the report! The GUI is horrible, and at the moment with KDE 3.5.6 it does not work at all. All I get is an empty address book, while with the konqueror webdav kio plugin, I can view all the .vcf entries just fine. E.g. using webdav://myogohost/zidestore/dav/USERNAME/Contacts works fine. Why can't Kontact just support webdav resources as well, if groupdav is not working at all?
Comment 3 Martin Steigerwald 2014-03-07 12:59:46 UTC
This is so totally old. I just close it.
