Description Robert Cook 2005-10-24 16:18:23 UTC
Version: 0.4.2 (using KDE 3.4.2 Level "b" , SUSE 10.0)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15-default

Opened a pdf from the following link.

http://www.it3.umd.edu/web2006/images/cfp2006.pdf

Decided to print preview before actually printing. This causes a crash with the following backtrace.

I don't get any crash here with 3.4.3 nor 3.5.0, any chance you could update from 3.4.2 to 3.4.3?

Comment 3 Robert Cook 2005-10-25 16:41:34 UTC
I updated KDE to 3.4.2 level "b" last night. I get the same KPDF Crash only when attempting print preview. It appears to be file independent. Below is the backtrace reported.

Comment 4 Robert Cook 2005-10-25 16:43:09 UTC
I am sorry, in my last message, I said updated to 3.4.2. I meant, 3.4.3. My apologies.
Comment 5 Albert Astals Cid 2005-10-25 19:34:03 UTC
Hmmm, if the crash is file dependent it could be somewhere in kde and not in kpdf. Can you do a print preview from konqueror? (To do so, select print and them mark the print preview option in the dialog) Does it work?
Comment 6 Robert Cook 2005-10-28 06:50:40 UTC
No, the crash is file independent, meaning, it occurs with all files. I have also confirmed that it happens when printing from Konquorer using the checkbox on the print dialog as you instructed. This is not a show stopping bug, just an annoyance. I have not had this on previous SuSE versions. I am not experiencing any other trouble, although lately I have been buried in Writer 2.0 work for the most part. Have not really explored SuSE 10 that much yet.
Comment 7 Albert Astals Cid 2005-10-28 09:33:14 UTC
Reassigning to kdeprint
Comment 8 Cristian Tibirna 2005-10-28 13:52:27 UTC
I guess there's something wrong with your system setting or your distro. I am positive that crash in pdf file printing preview isn't reproducible. This is a frequent operation for sure yet you're the only one to report such a problem.

The backtrace from the crash is useless too.

I recommend you check that you have ghostscript installed correctly (and please report here the problem).

Also, please indicate what printing system are you using and if the crashes are occuring with any printer selected or with a specific one.
Comment 9 Kurt Pfeifle 2007-01-13 01:33:58 UTC
I'm assuming this report has timed out by now.

Robert, should you still have problems with KDE 3.5.5, please re-open this bug and:

 (a) name the exact versions of your CUPS and Ghostscript installations
 (b) attach a PDF file where this crash happens to you.

Cheers,
Kurt
