if you try to copy a file from vfat to reiserfs which contains umlauts, it doesn't work. the other way it doesn't work too. so maybe kio does not support umlauts even if the system supports it? cause when i copy the files in konsole it works without any errors.
copying with drag and drop shows errors like "The folder %§rzte does not exist" (only example!) and stops the whole copy process, it even doesn't ask if i want to skip this folder and continue.

summary:
kde 3.5beta1 (english w/o german support!)
kernel 2.6.14-rc2-mm2 (with iso8859-15 support)
all folders are shown correctly (with umlauts)
copy these folders to another partition (e.g.from vfat to reiser) fails
cp -a . /mnt/reiserpartition/ works in konsole
