Description Dik Takken 2005-10-12 14:49:05 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.1)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

When dropping a file on a Konqueror window, it is not always predictable what happens. For example, there is a difference between dropping on top of an existing item, or dropping at the space between the items.

Dropping files on Konqueror will be a lot more predictable when konqueror provides live feedback, showing where the item will be inserted when the user would release the mouse button. So, at any time, two instances of the dragged object should be visible:

* The instance that is 'in the air' and moves with the mouse
* The instance that is inserted into the listview/iconview/whatever, showing what the end result will be when the user releases the mouse button.

I will also file this wish for KDesktop.

Assigning to file icon view, this is where this feature is most useful.

Reports about file management mode reported against KDE 3 (konqueror) has been closed: konqueror in KDE 3 is no more developed and mantained. All bugs and wishes which could be interesting for Dolphin in KDE 4 (the new KDE file manager) has been collected into a specific list.

Please try the new file manager before request new features and report bugs.

Before submitting new reports check carefully the already opened Dolphin reports in order to don't add duplicates.

Many thanks.
