Description Daniel O'Connor 2005-10-12 03:55:01 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: FreeBSD Ports
OS: FreeBSD

I am using the nVidia binary drivers on my laptop. It is configured such that I have 2 X displays - :0.0 and :0.1. The first is the main LCD panel and is used for 99% of my work. :0.1 is used for TV out which is only used very rarely.

It seems that sometimes after a (modal) dialog box is closed focus switches to the other display. I see this most often in kmail - I select a message and delete it, and then sometimes focus does not return to the main kmail window, but it appears to be on the TV display (eg if I press alt-f1 the start menu appears on the TV).

This may be a duplicate of 103338 but I'm not sure.

Mostly this is just a niggle but it does mean I need to use the mouse more than I'd like with kmail :)

This also happens on KDE 3.5.0 in Ubuntu 5.10.
I'll try to add another example to elaborate.
1. I move cursor to empty desktop space on first display with Konqueror still focused.
2. I open "Find" dialog in Konqueror with keyboard shortcut on first display.
3. I search for text.
4. I press escape to close "Find" dialog.
5. Focus switches to other display to whatever application is in highest z order.
6. I must reposition cursor to Konqueror to gain focus back to first desktop.
