Version: 1.8.2 (using KDE KDE 3.4.2) Installed from: SuSE RPMs This bug has been in kmail for a long time now. Once started, kmail checks for mail every now and again (5min). Sometimes it gets new e-mail, sometimes not. What is strange is that when I check the mail through web based interface, I see the mail. Then when I press "check mail" in kmail, it checks for new mail.. but no new mail. Then I close kmail and re-open it, and voila, there it retrieves the mail. Anyone any ideas?
Did you perhaps select "Exclude from check mail" for that account? If you kill all the kio_pop3 processes, and then try check mail again, does it work?
will try killall as soon as it happens again. the mail account is not excluded
It is too difficult to reproduce the bug and exclude server config. I will monitor this potential problem.
This is happening to me with KDE 4's Kmail, upon checking for mail I get the following error "Could not connect to host mail.charter.net: Unknown error." I know that Konqueror from KDE4 has trouble loading websites and I get the same "Unknown error" from Konqueror. I don't know if the two problems are related but online IMAP is always able to be checked. I am using a backported KDEPIM from KDE 4.1 Beta 2 onto KDE 4.0.4.
