Description John Gutierrez 2005-10-03 07:48:28 UTC
Version: 3.4.2 (using KDE 3.4.2 Level "b" , SUSE 9.3 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.4-21.9-default

Exporting ALL records to a "csv" or "ldif" file does not include the headings or data of custom fields.

Vcard v2 & v3 export works properly when the "other fields" box is selected from the secondary dialog box.

This secondary dialog box does not appear when exporting to either "csv" or "ldif".

I consider the omission of fields when exporting "ALL" can be considered a downstream data loss.

We have to differ here. For LDIF you've normaly a fixed schema, so we
can't export all fields, since these fields might not exists in the
schema.

For csv you are right, that will be fixed in KDE 4.0.

CSV is a poor mans data exchange format, so use vCard 3.0 instead, it
contains all data and was designed for exchange/storage.

Ciao,

Will close now
Comment 4 Tobias Koenig 2009-08-05 16:27:25 UTC
The development of the old KAddressBook will be discontinued for KDE 4.4.
Since the new application has the same name, but a completly new code base we close all bug reports against the old version and ask the submitters to resend there reports against the new product.
