Version: unknown (using KDE 3.4.2, Debian Package 4:3.4.2-4 (testing/unstable)) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13 i would be nice to have the ability to copy an existing printer. i use to have a special printer for e g printing 2 pages per sheet instead of always change the settings. so if i could simply copy an exiting printer and adapt the settings (and name of course) it would save me alot of money. for another rationale see #113417.
This is what instances are made for. Normally, you should be able to copy an existing instance from the print manager, in the "Instances" tab after selecting the target printer.
maybe. but as said in #113417 at least in opera instances are not visible and thus not usable. is there a way to show instances like a printer in these cases? if not i have to create a copy of the printer manually to get the effect of an instance -- and thus we're at the beginning again.
If Opera does not show CUPS instances in its own print dialog, this is something to fix in Opera. I doubt there's anything that can be done are kdeprint's level. The best is to make use of "kprinter" tool, hence solve the second part of bug #113417.
ok. then i think the bug could be closed.
