Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages OS: Linux The bug is related to the new Trash applet in Kicker. I have 2 trash applet - one in the menu applet, top of the screen. The menu applet has also the KMenu, and others applets. - one in kicker wich contain only icons for useful apps. Sometimes, at startup or when restarting kicker, only the first one of the Trash applets start. After that, Kicker works (auto-hide, menu applet,...) but one can't click (left and right) on icons, Kmenu and applets. But the menu applet is still working well.
I'm using Kubuntu, which is not in the "Installed from" menu.
i can't reproduce this with 3.5 and i've been running with two trash applets for 2 days now and have stopped and started kicker multiple times in the intervening period. it really sounds like there is a modality being triggered and that kicker is blocked there in. but, as i said, i can't reproduce this.
Can this be related to Artsd ? I've just found that Artsd doesn't work either - but for now, I can't be sure that it occurs each time.
i doubt it's related to artsd in any way. both may point to a general problem with your installation or compilation (e.g. they didn't go smoothly / properly), but i can't see how arts and the panel buttons not working would be causally related in any way
xavier: can you try the 3.5 betas and let me know if it is any better for you w/regards to this particular bug? thanks.
I tried, with Kicker only (and dependencies) and then with the entire KDE desktop: still the same bug (it was on a completely new Kubuntu install, on a different computer, nothing coming from my particular desktop).
I've test kde 3.5 beta 2 packages from Kubuntu breezy, on a completely new computer: the bug is still here.
thanks for the follow up.
trash applet doesn't exist on KDE4.
This bug report is about kicker in kde3
