Description p92 2005-09-11 13:47:24 UTC
Version:           0.10.91  (svn, >= 20050822) (using KDE 3.4.2, Kubuntu Package 4:3.4.2-0ubuntu4 )
Compiler:          Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.10-5-686

This has to do with kopete configuration of webcam.

All v4l devices are detected OK but kopete __always choose the first in the drop down list__, regardless of my choice which is the second one.

I can temporarily choose the second one but it will not stick in the configuration:

- Stop and start kopete : first one is choosen
- go out of config then back in webcam config : first one is choosen

expected behaviour : the user choosen v4l device should be in the config and should stay selected

Same here with kde 3.5
v4l first device is my tvcard, and second device is webcam. Kopete always sets the first device

Same here with kde 3.5

my first device is a tvcard, the second is the webcam.

no chance to switch to the webcam device.
Comment 6 Sebastian Noa 2005-12-01 18:47:48 UTC
i moved /dev/video1 -> /dev/v4l/video1 and made a softlink
from /dev/v4l/video1 /dev/video1 and now i can choose the webcam.

but the choosen v4l device switched back to the tvcard (/dev/v4l/video0).

Added routines to fix it. Currently it loads the selected device and set parameters correctly.
The related bug that made video transmition select the 1st device even when another device was properly set is fixed too.
Comment 9 Peter Rininsland 2006-09-09 16:03:41 UTC
In my Kopete 0.11.1 (using KDE 3.5.1 Level "a" SUSE 10.1) there is still the error described above.

The package kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger has the version 3.5.1-32.10

What to do to get this fix?

Peter Rininsland, Please check kopete 0.12.2 from sources or a recent KDE version. I'm not a SUSE user, but I know by the word-of-mouth SUSE provides KDE 3.5.4 packages. Not only this bug will disappear, but lots of other bugs.
