Version: 3.4.2 (using KDE 3.4.2, Gentoo) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5-20050130 (Gentoo 3.3.5.20050130-r1, ssp-3.3.5.20050130-1, pie-8.7.7.1) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 I have kontact and friends all setup to store everything via imap. Every one of them work but the journal.
Ok that was a really bad description .. so now that I have a little more information to hopefully be helpful here goes. I noticed that when I turned off hide special folders there was a Journal dir. that contained _all_ my journal entires! so it's not that it's not saving it's that it's for some reason not reading them.
I see the same behavior with kde 3.5.1/kmail 1.9.1/kaddressbook 3.5. Contacts, Journal entries, etc. are saved into IMAP folders but are not available in the addressbook or the calendar.
Same problem here with KDE 3.5.2/Korganizer 3.5/Kmail 1.9.1 I add an entry to the journal. I quit kontact. I launch kontact again. The entry I have just added is not there. Hower, the new journal entry exists in the ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/dimap/.617275931.directory/.INBOX.directory/Journal/cur directory. It is "as if" Kontact was unable to extract the journal entries from the IMAP resource. The other disconnected IMAP resources I use (calendar with to-do list, addressbook) work fine.
I notice the described behaviour too, the same is with Notes. Addressbook and Kalendar work fine. In my opinion it is a "severe" bug, because it makes Journal useless, if you want to use it on more than just one computer. Richard

Journals are working fine now. Tested with the new akonadi pim suite.
