Version:           0.10.91  (svn, >= 20050822) (using KDE 3.4.90 (alpha1, >= 20050806), Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5-20050130 (Gentoo 3.3.5.20050130-r1, ssp-3.3.5.20050130-1, pie-8.7.7.1)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-gentoo-r9

Hi,
I think that kopete lacks something when we talk about custom smileys. It isn't possible to right click an incoming smiley and add it to my custom smiley. I think it would be useful, and could be implemented creating a new "imported smileys theme" that works together with the user selected theme.
Comment 1 Mario Palomo 2006-03-26 04:51:41 UTC
I'd like to open emoticons/smileys from a file (GIFs probably downloaded from internet) and add them to the custom smileys too (using an "imported smileys theme" or "custom emoticons" that works together with the user selected theme).

This plus the chance to use more than one smiley theme is the only feature that Kopete lacks for MSN!

A general solution (patch ChatMessagePart)

This is a general guideline to solve the problem, since I know C++ but never
developed with Qt or KDE libraries, so I took a look here and there in the code
and made a little of copy & paste.
The idea is that right-clicking on a new emoticon sent by your friend pops up a
menu that enable you to save it. But I'm not sure how to build new emoticon.
However it will be a great thing if more than one emoticon theme could be
selected. And if I could split my emoticons in some categories (you should see
what a crappy popup when they are 100+). This is not a solution, only a
suggestment. Bye!

I think that this is the same of bug 131442

I totally agree.... to me it's one of the most important features missing in Kopete. It's strange that this feature request is so old but it still hasn't been implemented yet... :(

There are some links which could be useful on bug #131442 (marked as dup)

Anyway, this could be interesting not only for the MSN plugin, but it should be implemented for all incoming emoticons.

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
