Description Mathias Homann 2005-08-26 01:44:17 UTC
Version: 1.1.1 (using KDE 3.4.2 Level "b" , SUSE 9.2 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (pre 3.3.5 20040809)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-24.17-default

it would be useful to have a predefined telrad setting circle among the STF markers (telrad setting circle: three concentric red circles, diameters 240' 120' and 30'). Alternatively, it would be good to activate more than one STF marker at a time, so that you could roll your own telrad (or any other red-dot finder).

Hello,

Thanks for the wish...someone else recently asked for this as well, so we'll
definitely be adding a Telrad symbol. Out of curiosity, what does STF stand
for? I'm not completely happy with my nomenclature ("target symbol"), so may
be interested in adopting another term, if it is widely used.

beats me. all the other starchart apps i use call it "eyepiece" or FOV indicator, but with the possibility of using it for all kind of field of view markings, i'd say FOV indicator would be the right term.

anyways, it would be good to have the telrad circles added, as well as the possibility to have more than one FOV indicator active. Imagine, for example, the FOV of a ccd camera placed on the map, with different focal lengths (barlow lenses). btw, not all cameras have quadratic chips, so a rectangle added as an option would be good as well.

if you understand german, here's a link about telrad circles: http://www.astrooptik.ch/d_zubehoer_telrad.html with a good little pic where you can see how a telrad circle looks.

SVN commit 769768 by harris:

Adding Telrad FOV indicator to the list of defaults (Wish #111526).
