Description Juan Ehrenhaus 2005-08-24 08:37:13 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

System: SuSE9.3, KDE3.4.2 level a installed from the rpm Files available.

1.- Kicker crashes at log off the system, when you add it an additional special menu like "recent open documents". (crash log data will be submitted today in the afternoon)

2.- The above issues make a change in the ~./kde/share/apps/config/kickerrc File:
[menus]
...
Extensions=recentdocs.desktop

If you delete the extension (let it empty)
..
Extensions=
then kicker can shutting down without crashes.

3.- The behavior is repeatable in other PC with similar system running.

I have the same problem on Kubuntu v5.04. It does not seem to cause any problems, it is just annoying and makes the shutdown process longer.

tia!
Comment 9 Aaron J. Seigo 2005-08-30 11:39:51 UTC
the fix is in KDE's svn and will eventually be in a release. if you are looking for the patch itself, look at the 3.4 branch in kdebase/kicker/ui .. it covered a few files, and i don't have time to look for the exact revision atm.
Comment 10 Juan Ehrenhaus 2005-08-30 16:29:15 UTC
I think a solution to avoid open new bugs from closed ones or to answer questions regards solved issues, pass through post following information, per each corresponding case:

-------------------------------------BUG FIXED-------------------------------
Updated Files related:
kicker,
kdebase,
(Type the name of the files involved) SVN Version and / or apply files from the next stable release.

“Do not open a new Bug for the above case or add additional comments in this one.”
THX.
