Description mauceri 2005-08-13 23:47:40 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: GCC 3.4.3
OS: Linux

Konqueror shows a horizontal scrollbar when folder names are not shown completly in the tree view on the left side. After renaming a long foldername to a short one, the horizontal scrollbar remains.
Comment 1 Hugh Warrington 2006-04-08 23:48:50 UTC
I can confirm this in KDE 3.5.0, compiled from sources. In fact, the same behaviour can be produced simply by expanding directories so that the tree view requires a horizontal scrollbar and then collapsing them back down again: the horizontal scrollbar remains even though it is not necessary. The vertical scrollbar doesn't seem to suffer this problem.
Comment 2 Stefan Borggraefe 2006-07-01 15:16:28 UTC
Also confirming with Konqueror 3.5.3 (current Debian Sid package).
Comment 3 Dominik Tritscher 2008-08-21 00:09:32 UTC
This is not an issue any more in KDE4.1 as the dolphin kpart strips long filenames, thus horizontal scrollbars are not shown at all.
Comment 4 Rui G. 2008-08-27 13:27:52 UTC
I confirm the bug in kde 3.5.9.

Dominick, the strip occurs in Dolphin but not in Konqueror4. Also, changing the folder's name doesn't result in changing the name in the konqueror4 sidebar so I can't see if the horizontal scroll bar stays there afterward. But this is a new bug.

I can confirm the bug in KDE 4.4.5

1) start konqueror
2) open the sidebar (F9)
3) create a folder with a looooong name so the horiz scrollbar appears
4) rename the folder from the sidebar (right click on the folder -> rename) with a short name
-> The horizontal scrollbar doesn't disappear

Moreover there is a side effect which doesn't allow to open or rename again the folder from the sidebar. Probably the tree list is not completely refreshed.
