Version: 0.7.2 (using KDE 3.3.2, (testing/unstable)) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.6 (Debian 1:3.3.6-7) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.10 When the Sanyo VPC-G200 is selected from the long list, it shows this correctly as a serial camera and its serial device as /dev/ttyS0. When you add the camera and then click on it from the Camera menu, it first connects with the camera and then looks in folder / for images. It never finds any, whether the camera is on or off. Using the old program TyGeMo at /dev/ttyS0, images are found and downloaded to a selected folder and even deleted from the camera, so images can be detected and downloaded. It seems that images are being sought only in the folder / and not in any subfolders, and there seems to be no way to change this.
Can you try fetching the images via gphoto, for example with gphoto2 -P

I have the same Camera with the same problem so I tested this with my USB > RS232 adapter. I modified the cameras.xml for the correct port ttyUSB0 but digiKam still fails looking for files. I "think" the problem is not being able to change the port speed in digiKam because gphoto *will* work fine with this command (slower port speed): gphoto2 --list-files --port /dev/ttyUSB0 --speed="9600" --camera="Sanyo VPC-G200" There are 3 files in folder '/'. #1 P1010001.JPG rd 50 KB image/jpeg #2 P1010002.JPG rd 51 KB image/jpeg #3 P1010003.JPG rd 48 KB image/jpeg I take it that 115k is default and it drops down to 19k2, but of course it will still fail at this speed. Can the port speed be changed in the cameras.xml in digiKam.
