In KDE-3.4.1 and 3.4.2, the icons duplicates instead of moving. Upto kde-3.4.0, this was ok.

they duplicate when moving them from where, to where and by what means?

They are duplicated in 3.4 when dragging an item from the quicklauncher to the quicklauchner to change their ordering. 

I have fixed this some time ago - in r429249 I assume, so this should work correctly again with KDE 3.5. I am pretty sure that I mentioned the fix somewhere, but obviously not in the commit log, sorry.

I described the same problem in Gentoo's bugzilla some time ago:

I noticed the wrong behaviour after upgrading from KDE 3.4.0 to 3.4.1.
