Description Sebastian Turzański 2005-06-20 01:43:14 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.4.0, compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.3
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11

in kcontrol printer configuration module autorization window doesn't come in front of other windows when i disable or enable the printer.
I have to listen for the soudn notification and then look for the authorization windows with alt-tab

This seems to happen not only with kcontrol.

We've tested several applications, e.g. Emacs, nedit and so on. With KDE 3.4.1 you can't bring some windows to front e.g. by selecting the appropriate frame in the editor (in Emacs this would be File->New Frame, Buffer->Frame->whatever.c).

This always worked with older versions of KDE and still works with other window managers (I tested fvwm2, backbox).

It has to do with focus prevention in kwin. Disable focus prevention and report back please.

I agree with Cristian.

Please reopen with more information if you have this problem with a more recent KDE version.
