Description Carlos Sanchis 2005-06-15 17:42:34 UTC
Version: 2.4.1 (using KDE 3.4.1 Level "a" , SUSE 9.3 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.4-21.7-default

When ending my KDE session I get an error message about an "unknown app (kicker)" with signal 11 [please notice that I figured out that message, since it appears in my language, Spanish]. I've been trying many many things and I'm positive about kmix being responsible for it. If any other app is placed into the system tray nothing happens, but when I load kmix, the error message appears (sometimes even twice a logout: does kicker restart??) when I logout and, what's more, it sometimes leaves me with a blank screen and just the mouse, kwin and everything gone but drkonqi (which is not visible). If I kill drkonqi from a tty KDE closes fine.

I managed to find a workaround: it only happens when I activate extra menus in the kmenu. I mean: recent documents, networks places... all execpt bookmarks. I'm not marking this a a solved bug because it actually isn't, but maybe it should be moved to kicker. I don't know how all this works, it's up to you now.

No. I believe this is a real KMix bug. When does it happen in general: When you have KMix running or when you have the KMIx Panel-Applet running?
Comment 3 Carlos Sanchis 2005-07-12 12:44:36 UTC
In both cases, but only when I have those menus I said.
Comment 4 Christian Esken 2005-08-01 00:09:06 UTC
Does this mean, you have explicitely checked all 3 cases?

1) With panel applet / Without DockIcon
2) With panel applet / With DockIcon
3) With panel applet / with DockIcon

If yes, please also check number 4)

4) Without panel applet / Without DockIcon

It is really important for me to know this. Otherwise there is no chance to solve this issue.
Comment 5 Carlos Sanchis 2005-08-01 03:40:06 UTC
It does mean it (including number 4). The only case that gets the error is when I have both the extra menu (in the KMenu or as a special button in the Kicker) and Kmix (as an applet or as the regular app). So that's 9 cases, actually. There are two exceptions taht I know of: "Bookmarks" and the "Quick Browser" (Is it like that in English?). I know of the following buttons that crash: "Recent Documents" and "Konqueror Profiles". I'll try the rest and post the results, just in case it is of any help.

I also have this problem, if i have kmix running on the systray, kicker crashes on logout, if i remove kmix from systray kicker closes ok.
