Version: 0.7.3 (using KDE KDE 3.4.0) Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: 0.7.3 OS: Linux I would like to see K3B Integrated into Digikam. The best way to do this would be to right click an album or photo and choose 'Create K3b Project'. This would prompt the user to name the project and create a tree under 'My Tags' called 'Burn Projects' with a project in the tree labeled the user specified name. Then the user can drag and drop an album or photo into the project to add to the burn project just as if it were an album. When the project is clicked to be viewed, the photo frame will have an embedded frame at the bottom with a square box. The box will contain the text: 'Drag photos here to remove from project'. When the user is satisfied with the photo selection, the user clicks the burn button beside the remove-photo-box and k3b is started with the photos in the project ready to burn.
Created attachment 11380 [details] Gimp created k3b integration wish This is my vision of what K3b integration with Digikam should look like.
I like to see a way to burn images directly on CD using digikam. At the moment there is a kipiplugin that creates an album on CD, but that is not very usefull for creating backups etc.. However, IMHO integrating k3b in digikam like in your vision would make the digikam GUI a bit bloated. I'd rather like to see a kipi-plugin that allows the user to select images or albums to burn on a disc. But it is up to the digiKam team if they decide to implement your suggestion, and how they will do it :o) Meanwile, your proposal already works using separate windows: start both digikam and k3b, create a new data-CD project in k3b and drag-n-drop images or albums from digikam to k3b. Rinse
But how would it be bloated if it the K3b section only appears when you start a new project?
digikam will get a better backup solution sooner or later, like offline albums on cd. But I'm totally conform to what Rinse said, such an integration of k3b as mentioned here, isn't the right way.
Yes, burning out of digikam would be great... very great.
