We need a description how to reproduce the problem and/or a backtrace with
debug information.

Hi, I've got a similar problem which resulted (I think) from one of either of two things:

1. I accidentally filled up my hard disk while Kmail was running, and may have received new mail or something at that time.

2. I sometimes ssh into my computer, kill Kmail and the system tray icon which shows the new messages by using "ps aux" to find the processes, and then pull up new Kmail windows over an ssh tunnel...I noticed that sometimes the system tray reports new messages that are not actually new...for instance, Kmail's main window has only 1 message, but the systray icon shows 3 unread messages. The solution has been (in the past) to simply close both correctly and start them up again.

3. Just thought of this: I've recently started using the Kontact manager (with Kmail within it). Not sure if that has anything to do with the problem.

My biggest question is now can I _resync_ the file or get it working so that I can access my mail. This is a massive problem as I am a travel writer and have to have access to email asap. If you can think of anything I can do to fix the file (start a new one? Edit it in emacs?) please post something. Currently I'm completely at a loss...and a bit panicked!! :-) Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Does this problem still occur with KDE 3.5?
Comment 4 Daniel Herkes 2006-09-18 13:02:45 UTC
Hi,

No, I have not seen this bug for a while. I switched to the new "~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail/" location for the mailbox. I cannot see how this would matter though.

Thanks

Dan

No confirmation for the KDE 4 line anymore.
