Version: 1.8 (using KDE KDE 3.4.0) Installed from: SuSE RPMs This is somewhat related to bug 92619. Encryption/decryption passphrases should be handled with KDE wallet. Kmail already uses KDE wallet for things like IMAP/POP/SMTP credentials; it's silly to force users into repetitive manual interaction with an ugly dialog generated by alpha-level software that requires extensive manual reconfiguration.
it's a security risk indeed, if you enter your passphrase hundred times a day..
I agree with this, plus KWallet can keep my passphrases and do it automatically, whereas pinentry-qt seems to forget rather quickly, meaning my passphrase is often on the klipboard.
Hint: You can set the tim ethat pinentry-qt stores the passphrase, by adding the "--default-cache-ttl" option to the pinentry startup.
Closing this bug -- switched to GNOME
Why is this bug closed, just because one person switched to GNOME?? That doesn't invalidate the issue at all for the rest of us.
I closed it as I reported it and there's no other option for me to stop receiving copies of follow-ups. [indeed, even closing it appears to be ineffective :-(] If you wish to take responsibility, clone the bug and mark this one as a duplicate, however... This was reported for KDE 3.x, which has been abandoned (therefore WONTFIX). If it hasn't been fixed in 5 1/2 years, it isn't likely to ever get fixed.
New bug at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=250709 Please vote for it. Bruce, sorry to bug you.
