Description Skipper 2005-05-12 05:26:11 UTC
Version: 1.7.2 (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs
OS: Linux

Drag and Drop folders is pretty self explanatory. It would make keeping up with many sub-folders much easier.
Resizing the message window because it is either up or down and I'd like to be able to make the message small without losing it completely.
Like others, this is my main email client. It just could use some polish.

I have also many folders and I have to move them from "todo" folder to "done" one, then to the "archive" folder :-)
So the drag and drop of folders to others would be very useful :-)
Thank you

I also like to have the drag&drop of folders feature. it is VERY nerving to select "move folder" from the context-menu and then navigate through my complex folder menu for each folder

The Move Folder menu option cannot operate on folders which contain sub-folders, so there is NO reasonable method for moving folders (apart from manually recreating the entire folder hierarchy and moving the messages folder by folder - which is not an option).

Also, the Move Folder option only allows you to move to "Local Folders" (not IMAP).

My users currently have to come to me, and I connect to their IMAP mailboxes use Mozilla Thunderbird to drag'n'drop folders.

This is a must have feature in my opinion (and that of 60 of my users).

BTW - this bug (wish) should be split into two.. I could care less about the "resizing window" thing.

Please check with KMail 1.9.5 - it should work.

This is when using the folder context menu. Have you tried the Hotkey "M"? It
lists IMAP folders as well.

Please check carefully. But I'm not responsible for data loss during your
trials. :-)

Anyway, the report is about drag and drop, so it doesn't directly have to do
with moving folder structures around.

Correct - this is improvement, but again only to Local Folders.

Hotkey "M" only applies to messages - not folders.

Agree - but a response to duplicate bug 111477 had suggested that the "Move Folders" context menu was a workaround - and it is not.

Drag and drop is needed from any folder (local or imap) to any folder (local or imap).

I would like to have this feature too, since I use kmail 100% for my email management, I frequently reorganize folders. It would be great to be able to drag and drop

SVN commit 633599 by vkrause:

After enterprise branch and trunk, merge the kmail-moving-folders branch
here as well.
Nearly all folders can now be copied and moved using the context menu,
copy/cut/paste actions and keyboard shortcuts as well as drag&drop. This
also adds copy/cut/paste actions for messages.

Please note that if there are still bugs, folder moving is potentially
dangerous since it deletes the source folder. Please let me know if you
experience any problems with that.

Tested Kmail 3.5.8 and the SVN version of Kmail for KDE4 (Revision 745947), DnD works both with local and IMAP folders.
