Description Geoff Horn 2005-05-06 22:33:05 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5-20050130 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.5.20050130-r1, ssp-3.3.5.20050130-1, pie-8.7.7.1)
OS: Linux

When attempting to configure the serial port to be used for my ETX125 telescope, kstars always crashes at the point after giving a port such as "/dev/ttyS0" or indeed when leaving the entry blank.

The output from gdb is:

kstars: Setting clock: UTC: Fri May 6 2005 21:12:34 JD: 2,453,497.38

From running kstars in a console I get:

This problem also existed on the same system when running kde-3.3.2

I cannot confirm that. Can you please provide more information on your system?

If you want to use your telescope at this time, there is an alternative method.

Go to the Device Menu --> Device Manager. Click on the "Telescopes" tree then select "ETX 125". Click "Start Service" and the driver will start. Now select "INDI Control Panel" from the device menu, and click "connect". You can change your port settings there as well.

Tried to use the procedure given above but the result is the same. Kstars crashes immediately after clicking on "Run Service". The info in the xterm window from which kstars is run is as given previously.

ps aux shows these two lines after the crash:

There is still no confirmation for this bug. Have you tried testing this on a different system?
Comment 4 Geoff Horn 2005-06-02 23:38:09 UTC
I've rebuilt my system without the nptl USE flag and I cannot reproduce the problem at all.Whether that was the problem or not I don't know.

Ok I guess we may never know :-) For the time being, this bug is closed. Enjoy KStars!
