Description Thorsten Staerk 2005-04-29 22:53:32 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

A long time, when I received invitations in my company, the displayed time was wrong. Reason was, that you have to set your timezone in korganizer.
That is by no means intuitive or expectable by the user. It meant lost meatings (in real, $$$, business) to me and disgrace for Linux.
Please provide a possibility to set the timezone centrally for all kde programs in kcontrol.

KOrganizer is the only app that takes a special timezone configuration because, well, you may want to change it.

All other applications use the system's timezone.

as long as kmail uses the system's timezone, it is fully okay with me.

What do you want?

If you want an UI to change the timezone, leave it assigned to kcmclock.

If you want KOrganizer to use the system's timezone, reassign to korganizer. As I said, it is the only app that is capable of using a timezone other than the system's.

If you want KMail to respect the system's timezone, it does so already. So there is no bug or wishlist for this.

I wanted KMail to respect the system's timezone. That is done for me, but as far as I remember, Till wanted to close the bug himself.

TZ handling is much saner now, and we'll default to the system timezone.
