Even though I have interval fetching set to every 5 minutes, when in Kontact and Akregator is not the focused app, it doesn't always update the feeds and I must update them manually initially.

I can confirm this. It seems like akregator isn't started internally. The systray icon doesn't show up either, until I switch to the application.

If the icon isn't shown Akregator isn't loaded up and this bug is bogus. It isn't started at startup to gain faster startup of kontact. (Unless you've selected it to be the default part on startup)
