Description Maik Schulz 2005-04-02 10:02:53 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc version 3.3 20030226 (prerelease) (SuSE Linux)

OS: Linux

Upon sending email via smtp I receive a dialog window stating that "sending failed" and that "the smtp protocol died unexpectedly". I tried this with several email providers.

I compiled KDE 3.4 final using Konstruct. Before, I was using KDE 3.3.2 from RPMs which I rpm -e'd completely. I also updated the dialog for the requested protocols by having it autodetect the encryption settings for both pop3 and smtp.

At first (after another error message when trying to send email) I found out that I need cyrus-sasl so after installing that via RPM (alongside with its devel package) I compiled the kdebase sources again, this time from the konstruct/kde/kdebase/work/kdebase.../ directory using "./configure" and "make install". Configure reported that it found and used the cyrus-sasl library.

KDE lives at /opt/kde3.
