Description TerrySoucy 2005-03-24 20:30:06 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

In my kicker, I have "kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing" to start konqueror, and with translucency turned on (with shadows, etc), konqueror comes up with no troubles, but when I move the window, it fades out (in accordance to my fade settings for moving windows), and then does not fade back in when I release the mouse button. It actually fades even more (looks like around 50-60% fade, since I have 80% fade for moving windows). If I run "kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing" from a terminal window, the window acts exactly as expected (proper fade out / fade in)

It seams that this has resolved itself after restarting the X server a couple of times, but will not resolve itself if only the translucency engine is restarted by hitting the Apply button in the control panel.

... and now I'm noticing it with even more apps. Kopete main window, as well as the Amarok window have begun to fade out more after clicking and moving. These apps are run from the system tray.

I've noticed bugs similar to this when moving windows around, especially "kfmclient openProfile filemanager". Not sure if it only occurs when apps are launched from kicker.

The window will fade out properly, but fade-in only to the 'inactive' window setting rather than the 'active' window setting. I've just been setting my inactive window setting no lower than 75% just in case it happens, the window is still viewable.

as the future's probably on OpenGL through XGl and AIGLX, kompmgr was not intended to be a longtime solution (but just a hack to play with) and the nvidia RenderAccel seems to hate XOrg7.x (so i cannot use it anymore) - consider this concept to be dead for KDE4
-so: won't fix :(
