Description Bearcat M. Sandor 2005-03-23 01:57:18 UTC
Version: 0.10 (using KDE 3.4.0, yes)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.3
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.5

WHen ever i close a tab, chat window, irc server window, or IM session window kopete quits. There is no crash dialog generated. This happends wether or not kopete is mimnimised or not.

I do have the transparencies and drop shadows on, if that helps.

I'm seeing this bug over and over all the way back to 2002. It is not resolved quite yet.

I am using kopete as included in kdenetwork, compiled sources.

Thank you, If there is any other information i can provide such as compile logs please let me know.

If you turn off transparencies and drop shadows, does it not crash anymore? If
it stops crashing, then this would be a problem with the new transparency
features in KDE's window manager kwin.

I turned off all transparency and drop shadows and went out to runlvl 3. I went back into runlvl 5 and stated up kopete. The problem was consistant even with the shadows/trans turned off.

I ran it as root who has no kopete config files as i have never run kopete as root (of course). I was able to repeat it consistently with root, so it is not a config file either.

However doing at root did bring up a crash dialog and i was able to do a backtrace, which i have attached below.

thank you.
