Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0) Installed from: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux The german translation for Root-Console (Befehlsfenster (Systemverwaltungsmodus)) is, in my oppinion to long. Even when opening only two tabs of it they don't fit into the window. I suggest using a shorter string like Root-Konsole.
There should be no 'Root Console' I changed it to 'Root Shell' on Jan 29. Perhaps it is miss translated? I have this on my 3.4 system: Name[de]=Befehlsfenster (Systemverwaltungsmodus) On another note, I see there are a number of very long translations for 'root shell' This should likely be changed to the translation section....
Created attachment 10167 [details] Screenshot of Konsole Screenshot of Konsole running 2 root-shells in german translation.
Ok my fault, in english it is Root Shell and in german Befehlsfenster (Systemverwaltungsmodus) on my System too.
So what is your suggested string instead? We don't want to use "root", since root might be confusing to users new to linux.
What about "Systemkonsole", "Verwaltungskonsole". Ok, I don't have any better suggestions but I think that it ist not very useful to only see two tabs. Greets, Christian
Christian, you can always rename your tabs as you like it. double click on it and anter a new name for it. In addition you can generally rename the root shell tab in the Konsole settings: Konsole -> Einstellungen -> Konsole einrichten ... -> Sitzung I don't think that we will find a better translation and your suggestions don't satisfy me. If someone has a better translation for "root shell", please reopen the bug.
