Version: 1.2 (using KDE KDE 3.3.2) Installed from: Slackware Packages Compiler: gcc 3.3.4 OS: Linux It seems amarok truncates all song titles taken from files' metadata at 30 characters' length, even though much longer titles would fit in the window. For example, "Der fliegende Hollaender - Overture" is displayed as "Der fliegende Hollaender - Ove" and the same truncated title is shown both in the playlist window and in the dialog for displaying metadata. When I view the metadata in konqueror's "file properties" dialog, the complete string is show. It seems only MP3's are affected, OGG metadata is not truncated. I know of some limitations to metadata size in MP3 id3v1 tags, but if I'm correct, the MP3's in question are id3v2 (or perhaps they have both kinds of tags: version 1 and 2; in such case, version 2 should be displayed).
please add such a mp3 file as an attachment
Are you sure you want an attachment several MB in size? And is putting it here legal? It's a rip from a CD I own, but I don't think I am allowed to put it online.
I noticed that if I turn off the 'do not decode as latin1' option for id3v1 tags, titles still do get truncated in the playlist window, but appear correctly in the media properties dialog, whereas they were truncated there too when 'do not decode as latin1' was on. This is amarok 1.2.3.
Confirm, also the part that it doesn't seem to affect oggs. This is annoying, especially as it tends to mess with teh scrobbler stats.

Does this still happen when the recode option is off?
Seems to be OK now (decode turned off, amarok 1.3beta3)
Ok, then now what's missing is a dup of bug #102958. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 102958 ***
In 1.3.8 this bug still persists if the recode option is set to on
Requesting this bug be reopened; it exists in 1.4.0. (Not sure if the steps to reproduce have changed, but it shouldn't be hard to hard to find the problem code, eh?)
